IRON ONE CHIMNEY · HOMEOWNER GUIDE

Chimney service,
explained clearly.

Understand what to request, what the different chimney parts do and how to arrange service. Iron One Chimney provides cleaning, inspections and repairs in San Antonio, Austin, Boerne, Kerrville and Fredericksburg, Texas.

START WITH THE CONCERN

Which chimney service should I request?

You can describe what you have noticed without naming a repair. Tell us whether you need routine cleaning, have seen water inside the fireplace, have a damaged top cover or want an existing chimney evaluated. We will discuss the appropriate next step before scheduling.

01

Cleaning & sweeping

For soot, ash and creosote buildup. We discuss access, the cleaning scope and pricing before work starts. Sweeping removes deposits; it does not replace damaged chimney components.

02

Chimney inspection

For understanding the condition of accessible fireplace, chimney and venting components. Tell us about leaks, visible damage, changes in operation or a recently purchased home so we can discuss the inspection you need.

03

Repair assessment

For caps, chase covers, crowns, flashing, masonry, liners, dampers and fireboxes. We assess the concern and explain proposed work and price before you approve a repair.

KNOW THE PARTS

A cap, crown and chase cover are different parts.

These names are often used interchangeably when booking, but the parts serve different locations. A photo taken from a safe position can help us understand what you mean; fit and repair scope still need to be evaluated.

Common chimney components and their roles
ComponentWhere it is usedWhat it does
Chimney capOver a flue openingHelps keep rain and debris out while allowing the chimney to vent.
Chimney crownAcross the top of a masonry chimney, around the flueHelps shed water away from the masonry below.
Chase coverAcross the top of a chimney chase, around the vent pipeProvides metal protection for the chase top and its openings.
FlashingWhere the chimney meets the roofHelps manage water at the roof-to-chimney connection.

For general information about chimney water entry, see the Chimney Safety Institute of America’s maintenance guidance. Product selection depends on the chimney or appliance configuration.

WHEN WATER APPEARS

What should I tell you about a chimney leak?

Describe where you see the water, whether it happens during rain and whether there are stains, rust or visible exterior damage. Caps, crowns, chase covers, flashing and masonry can all be relevant to the assessment. A stain alone does not identify which part needs repair.

Iron One offers leak assessment and repair options. We review the accessible areas and explain the proposed work. If you have photos already, mention them when you call; there is no need to climb onto the roof to make an inquiry.

BEFORE YOU APPROVE WORK

How much does service cost?

Iron One offers free estimates. Cleaning, inspection and repair charges depend on the service selected and the agreed scope. A free estimate does not automatically include a sweep or every inspection service. Confirm the visit scope and any charge when booking.

Current Boerne service options

The Boerne service page offers an $89 chimney sweep with inspection or a $49 inspection without sweeping. Both include a written report and photos of inspected areas. These are Boerne offers; confirm your service address, availability and the scope before booking. Repairs are separate.

For other service areas or a repair project, request an estimate. Tell us the type of fireplace and what you want addressed so we can discuss the next step.

QUICK ANSWERS

Before you book.

Does Iron One offer both chimney cleaning and repairs?

Yes. Iron One Chimney provides sweeping, inspections and repair services, including caps, chase covers, crowns, flashing, masonry, liners, dampers and fireboxes. We discuss the work needed and its price before you approve it.

Is a chimney inspection the same as a chimney sweep?

No. An inspection evaluates the chimney’s condition within the agreed scope. Sweeping removes soot, ash and creosote buildup. A booking may include one or both services; confirm the selected option before the visit.

Is chimney sweeping included in the $49 Boerne inspection?

No. The $49 Boerne option is an inspection with a written report and photos of inspected areas. The $89 Boerne option includes chimney sweeping and inspection. Confirm your address and appointment availability with Iron One.

Can I request same-day chimney service?

You can request same-day service when you contact Iron One. Availability depends on your address, the type of work and the schedule. Your requested appointment is confirmed by the team; submitting a form does not reserve an arrival time.

What information do I need to request an estimate?

The main estimate form asks for your name, phone number and email. You can also include your address, city, ZIP code, service needs and preferred appointment details. The team will follow up to confirm the scope and scheduling.
